What is the New (Shorter) GRE?
The GRE is an international exam accepted by thousands of graduate programs worldwide, measuring students' analytical writing, verbal, and quantitative reasoning skills.
Versatile Acceptance:
It is a flexible exam accepted not only by business schools but also by engineering, sciences, humanities, and even some law/business schools (MBA).
New Shorter Format:
The exam duration has been halved to under 2 hours (approx. 1 hour 58 minutes). This minimizes test fatigue.
New GRE Exam Format
The revised and shortened GRE General Test consists of 3 main sections and is administered as computer-adaptive at the section level.
Analytical Writing (30 Mins)
1 task (Analyze an Issue). Measures your ability to express complex ideas clearly and effectively, and to support arguments.
Quantitative Reasoning (47 Mins)
27 questions (2 sections). Measures your problem-solving ability in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis. An on-screen calculator is provided.
Verbal Reasoning (41 Mins)
27 questions (2 sections). Tests your vocabulary and analytical ability through reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence.
Section-Level Adaptive
Your performance in the first quantitative and verbal sections determines the difficulty level of the second sections. This provides a more precise measurement.
